It ain’t over till its over. After decades of disappointment and heartache, Boston baseball fans finally rejoiced when, in dramatic fashion, the Red Sox became World Series Champions. The Curse of the Bambino has been extinguished and to mark this historic event, HBO Sports revised the Emmy®-winning documentary “The Curse of the Bambino” with the updated film Reverse of the Curse of the Bambino.

Boston fans will always remember where they were when the final out was recorded and the Red Sox became world champions for the first time since 1918. Following the Sox’ historic comeback victory over the New York Yankees in the playoffs and their sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals to win the World Series, the makers of the original HBO Sports documentary traveled to New England to capture the delirious celebrations of the Boston faithful and update the most rousing sports story of 2004.

Reverse of the Curse of the Bambino focuses on the love affair members of Red Sox Nation have with their heroes and acknowledges their undying devotion. The documentary includes interviews with such diehards as actor Denis Leary, comedian Steven Wright, writer Dan Shaughnessy, radio host Mike Barnicle and fans Ouisie Shapiro, Ben Birnbaum, Cheri Griffin and Paul Sullivan.

In 1918 the Boston Red Sox won their fifth World Series, thanks in great part to a young pitching and hitting sensation from the slums of Baltimore, named George Herman Ruth, a.k.a. The Babe, or The Bambino. A year later, after not advancing to the playoffs, Red Sox owner Harry Frazee sold the Babe to the New York Yankees. In turn, the Bronx Bombers went on to win an incredible 26 World Series titles. Diehard Red Sox fans who have lived their entire lives lamenting this trade have come to refer to it as The Curse of The Bambino.
